Gold and Silver Price Forecast: Warsh’s Jackson Hole Speech Takes Center Stage

Gold and silver remain in focus on Friday as traders await Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at the Jackson Hole symposium. Precious metals have pulled back from recent highs as investors reassess the outlook for US interest rates following elevated inflation data.

The latest US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data showed inflation rising 3.7% year over year in July, keeping pressure on the Federal Reserve to maintain a restrictive policy stance. Expectations surrounding future rate hikes, Treasury yields and the US Dollar are therefore likely to remain important drivers for gold and silver.

Gold Price Forecast

Gold recently reached a three-month high near $4,697 before retreating toward the $4,600 area. The $4,500 level remains an important technical support zone. Holding above this area would keep the broader bullish structure intact and could reopen the path toward $4,800 and eventually $5,000.

However, a decisive break below $4,500 could increase selling pressure and expose gold to the $4,300 region. A hawkish message from Warsh could strengthen the US Dollar and Treasury yields, creating additional short-term pressure on the non-yielding metal.

Silver Price Forecast

Silver is also consolidating below the important $72 resistance level. A sustained breakout above $72 could confirm renewed bullish momentum and potentially open the way toward the $90 area.

On the downside, failure to break $72 could result in another pullback toward $64 support. A decisive break below $64 would weaken the near-term bullish structure and could expose the $60 area.

Warsh Speech in Focus

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks are the main event for precious-metal markets. A hawkish message emphasizing persistent inflation could push Treasury yields and the Dollar higher, while a more balanced tone could ease rate concerns and support gold and silver.

Market Outlook

The broader outlook for precious metals remains constructive, but short-term volatility could increase sharply around the Fed speech.

For gold, traders should watch $4,500 support and $4,700–$4,800 resistance. For silver, $72 is the key breakout level, with $64 acting as important downside support.
